Mahendra Singh Tanwar

The research on ‘The Role of Tomars in Indian History‘ by Dr. Mahendra Singh Tanwar spans three decades since he started researching for his PhD from the Department of History, Jai Narain Vyas University. He has been associated with the Mehrangarh Museum Trust for more than twenty years. Dr. Tanwar has done significant research on local history and the Tomar dynasty and has published more than 15 books in both Hindi and English. His research has appeared in various national and international journals and his immense contribution to representing local history and culture worldwide is commendable. For the last twelve years, Dr. Tanwar has been relentlessly researching and working to preserve the local culture and heritage. He specialises in the research of Marwar’s sacred lands and environment and has done extensive documentation on several topics related to Marwar. Currently, he is the Assistant Director of the Maharaja Man Singh Pustak Prakash Research Centre. His work can be defined as frontier research and he possesses expert knowledge of the huge set of archival records available at the centre. Dr. Tanwar also plays a crucial role in shaping future research related to Western Rajasthan by devoting himself to publishing valuable cultural and historical data related to Marwar. At present, Dr. Tanwar is researching the living heritage of Mehrangarh Fort, Chandrasenot Jodha Rathore and the traditional heritage of Marwar. He has been appointed as the Supervisor of Research by the Department of History, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur.
